The Sound of Something Shifting

Subtle moments of change, and how we notice them

Do all changes make noise? Or do some arrive without announcement?

We tend to think transformation is dramatic. Loud. Clear. Obvious.

But the real shifts often sound like nothing.

They show up like a thought that doesn’t bite. A breath that feels easier. A choice that used to feel hard, but now doesn’t.

Change doesn’t always declare itself. Sometimes it hums in the background like a refrigerator you’ve finally tuned into. Or the silence left after a long noise fades.

There’s a quiet between the before and the after. And if you’re present, you can feel the seam.

Not the moment you change, but the moment you realize you already have.

I used to need signs.

Proof.
Confirmation.

Now I just listen.

For the tone that shifted in my own voice. For the tension that isn’t there. For the resistance that quietly let go.

Sometimes you don’t need to do anything. You just need to notice that you’re no longer stuck.

The shift may be tiny. Unimpressive. Inconvenient to explain.

But real.

And that’s the work. To stay close enough to your life that you can hear it changing.

What if the change has already started, but you’re still listening for the wrong sound?
